Re: handles and borders

Officially, no. But see: https://github.com/fvwmorg/fvwm/tree/ta/multiborder That is, the ta/multiborder branch in git. Thanks for the quick reply. Do you know the reason that the patch did not accepted by mainstream? Does it consume a lot memory or like? 1. Because I haven't cleaned the code up. 2...

For most people, it is. But as you've already got specific requirements, you're going to do something different.

Simple.

Re: minimal memory usage

You can use ./configure to disable everything, including images.

Anything else is modular and can be disabled via fvwm at run time.

This is what I was beginning to suspect.

So no idea if they're actually scheduled for removal?

Not in fvwm2. In fvwm3, yes, they'll all disappear.

Re: SnapGrid for icons only

Is this snapping supposed to happen when moving icons, or when you iconify windows?

If it's iconifying windows, see IconFill.

Re: Unwanted ghost panel with FvwmButtons+Panel

I see here, you've tried to have the geometry of the FvwmButtons in the panel popup off screen, as in:

Code: Select all

"Module FvwmButtons -g -10000-10000 -transientpanel PanelBar"

That's not right, and won't place the window off-screen. Try again with different values.

Re: Combination of MoveToPage + GotoPage: Can flickering be avoided?

Use PipeRead when calling the function. This will cause FVWM to block.

Re: Trouble setting up Fvwm function[SOLVED]

Rippard, I see that in the "KoggleMinimize" function that made your FVWM hang, you had between (!) the "+" lines defining the function a comment "#" followed by a few empty lines. It looks like this confused your FVWM. However it should not freeze, this is still a bug....

Can you put your config somewhere for me to see it?

Also, what version of FVWM are you running?

Hi all,

For those of you who don't follow the FVWM mailing list, please have a read of this thread:

I'd be interested in knowing people's thoughts and ideas.

Multiple monitor set up

All, I posted to the mailing list recently about how to go about having fvwm treat each monitor as separate from one another. To do this, I recommend the use of the State command. Re: Moving windows between layers

Whilst you could use Layers for this, you'll end up grating against the EWMH specification where some windows will transcend layers. Rather than thinking of moving windows between layers as you have them now, instead use State to to the toggling.
