Re: graphical user interface

darlawilson wrote:hi! Is there a graphical user interface that allows me to manage wireless connections under fvwm? Thanks

No. Fvwm isn't responsible for network connections. But you could swallow a systray like stalonetray in FvwmButton and start a network manager which will show in the systray then.

Re: volume control icon for ubuntu 16.04

You could use volumeicon-alsa as a replacement if you are running a system tray like stalonetray.

Change the mixer of volumeicon-alsa and use pavucontrol instead. It is a little bit tricky to get the sound back - you've to play with the settings of pavucontrol but it works.

Re: mounting USB keys

A colleague which recently moved from KDE to fvwm asked me if there is a way to have an USB key mounted automagically when inserted, as apparently it happens on KDE. I had no clue. Personally I do mount the USB key manually using alias sudo mount -t auto -o uid= xxxx ,gid= yyyy /dev/sdh1 /mnt but i...

Re: Replicating desktop configuration on an external monitor

This looks quite promising, there's a lot of things that I've desired for long. But allow me the question: Why did you fork the project, why did you not just contribute to the actual FVWM? Do you fear some quarrel? MVWM is a cleanup fork of one of the core developer of FVWM. It's a playground for n...

I am new to fvwm machine which is used by my new employers. I am struggling in customizing gvim menu (File, Edit, etc) font size. Re: Decor question

Have a look at window Decor of Jamois' FVWM Beginners Guide. You're on a good way. 8)
You could also look e.g. into the Ambience Decor in Fvwm-Nightshade or Clearlooks Decor of Fvwm-Crystal to get an overview how they realize window decorations.

You could try Fvwm-Nightshade with layout "G2like" or "Horizontal". If you would test it choose the develop version. For Debian, Arch, Gentoo and rpm systems you can create packages for easier installation 8) I need that panel for menus, shortcuts, and, most importantly, indicato...

Re: viewport width doesn't match display width; how to fix?

At the moment, xorg.conf doesn't exist. (At least I can't find one.) I got the impression xrandr was supposed to eliminate the need for this file. Per default Xorg determine its settings depending on your hardware and /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/. So xorg.conf isn't needed at all. But sometimes it h...

Re: viewport width doesn't match display width; how to fix?

It appears that the problem is with xrandr, which has mysteriously decided to give me extra width in my display. I'm not sure why, but it's not an fvwm issue. You could set your prefered resolution in xorg.conf of the problematic machine. Or set the wanted resolution there with xrandr. Then restart...

Re: viewport width doesn't match display width; how to fix?

Yeah, in general it seems like I could calculate the button position using $[vp.width] except that $[vp.width] is 2944 and the actual screen width is 1920. So the button comes out in the wrong place, 512 pixels too far to the right. Then you could try this: PipeRead `perl -e \ 'my $center = ($[vp.w...
