Screen goes dark, console hangs when exiting FVWM

I just installed OpenBSD v4.4, vanilla install, did an update, startx fires up FVWM,
seems to work ok - but when I exit - the screen goes dark and console hangs.
I have to SSH in to reboot… I don’t want anything fancy - just to able to
start and stop FVWM.

I hope someone can tell me what configuration/installation step I am missing
that would cause this to happen

Is this FVWM 2.2.X?

Sorry I forgot to include that info, it is fvwm2-2.4.20

Check your X logs (/var/log/Xorg.0.log) as well as your xsession log: (~/.xsession-errors)
