2.4.19 vs 2.5.14

I’m very new to fvwm, I use slackware 10.2 and it came with fvwm 2.4.19, should I upgrade to 2.5.14?

here is a list of what I wanna do with fvwm:

  • transparent menus
  • transparent thumbnails with dropshadows
  • transparent windowdecors
  • windows with dropshadows

are these possible with fvwm 2.4.19? maybe some of theme isn’t even possible with 2.5.14 (I doubt dropshadows)

PS: I also wonder if is it possible to do that thumbnail thing in other WMs or is it just FVWM dependent???

Yes, yes you should. Fvwm 2.5.14 has a LOT more features then 2.4.19. The only reason that 2.5.14 isn’t included in slackware is that it’s marked as “unstable” so patrick won’t include it. :slight_smile:
