In ubuntu 16.04 I have graphics problems running the desktop version of matlab in fvwm. It works fine with the default desktop manager, unity. I troubleshooted with mathworks, and they believe the problem is with the Compositor. unity uses Compiz, fvwm uses its own, i.e., FVWM. Is there a way to reset the compositor to Compiz? Or is this likely to create other problems for fvwm? Thanks!
Fvwm doesn’t use a compositor.
You can use something like xcompmgr for a compositor, but these are not part of fvwm.
