Hand cursor when clicking on windows prevents further clicking

hey yall, i use fvwm V.2.2.5. for some reason i don’t know, when i left click on windows, sometimes i get a hand cursor instead of the focus switching to the clicked window. the only way to cancel it and focus the actual clicked window is to alt-tab once, then hit esc (i have Key Tab A M WindowList Root c c NoDeskSort used in my ~/.fvwmrc). i can’t even seem to make it happen intentionally every time. sometimes i click and it works just fine. other times i click and it gives me the hand cursor. is it something in .fvwmrc i need to change? i looked for “pointer” and “cursor” and nothing seemed relevant. thanks!

Hi @supre

This is presumably fvwm-2.2.5 from OpenBSD in base?

It’s not supported upstream here any more. Hasn’t been for years.

There’s fvwm3 from ports if you want to try that.

hi thomas thanks for your reply. correct, i am using OpenBSD. would you happen to know if this was a bug fixed in fvwm3, or could it be a config error on my part? my .fvwmrc is “borrowed” from the default system template that comes with OpenBSD, with some tweaks in the menus to add my software and SSH connections. thanks!

Hi @supre

To be honest, I wouldn’t have the foggiest.

Kindly,
Thomas

no problem, i appreciate the replies anyway. take care o/
