How to exchange keyboard bindings (for gaming purpose) ?

Hi !!

I am playing starcraft / broodwar under linux fvwm.
And I would like to change the 1 with & to select units
I have to press shift. That’s kind of annoying

How to change keyboard bindings ?

for instance tthe z will replace the a
e.g. the & will replace the 1

If someone has any idea, please let us know !!

Thank you very much,

Linux Rocks !!

Patrick

I have absolutely no idea what it is you’re talking about. Can you rephrase your question?

First, thank you for your great support in fvwm !!

(So, I’ll try my best…)

I would like to make small changes in the keyboard:
If I press on ‘u’ key for instance it gives me a ‘i’
If I press on ‘i’ key for instance it gives me a ‘u’

The main goal & most important thing is when I press on ‘&’ key of the keyboard, the cvswine/starcraft/broodwar understand that’s a 1 which has been pressed.

when I press on ‘(’ key of the keyboard, the cvswine/starcraft/broodwar understand that’s the 5 which has been pressed (non numpad 5 key)

I hope it’s better expressed.

That’s gaming stuffs
I dont know if it’s possible with fvwm

(I also noted that the fvwm binding is working when I start wine for gaming
because my binding PrtSrcreen is working to make screenshots, and other gotodesktop +1 key bindings )

Thank you !!

Umm, thanks. I didn’t think anyone was watching what I did too closely.

Look at the ‘xmodmap’ command. This isn’t anything to do with FVWM.

Again, that’s not an FVWM question.

The problem you’re going to have to try to solve is knowing the key press needs to be changed when sending that key to the specific application.

If you want to swap rapidly from qwerty to native locale and conversly, you can use
setxkbmap -layout us/de/fr…

You could use scrolllock to swap easily
