hello,
I just switched from fvwm2 to fvwm3 and almost everything is fine, except of the decor of firefox windows. This is missing almost completely. The border and corner elements and the title bar do not appear. See attached screenshot for comparison.
In fvwm2.7, they were present, and in fvwm3, firefox seems the only program which comes up without an border / title elements.
To my knowledge, there are no firefox-specific settings. How can I get the borders etc. back?
Lots of programs are moving the way of ‘client side decors’ and use extended window manager hints to tell the window manager to not decorate them. That being said my firefox is decorated correctly. I think some of the Mwm
styles can be used to decorate in this case. Maybe try something like Style * MwmDecor, MwmBorder
. Or maybe try Emulate Mwm
. I have seen this with chromium and was able to get it to work that way.
Another thing you can try is under ‘themes’ in firefox, go an select ‘system theme - auto’ it could be one of firefoxes themes are getting in the way and you need to tell it to use the system themes instead.
You must enable native border decor on the firefox settings. There is no need to do as @somiaj suggest (however, it will work, but you will have double close, maximize and minimize buttons).
In Firefox go to «customize toolbar» and in the bottom left check the «Title bar» checkbox.
Indeed…!
Thank you.
I would never have found this checkbox without help.
Now firefox behaves exactly like all other applications.
