Workflow for experimental changes to configuration

hi all,

i was wondering about the workflow that folks have adopted over the
years playing with fvwm configuration without messing up their current
running fvwm session ?

running experimental fvwm session within a nested X server f.e. Xephyr
does come to mind. it seems quite attractive because it allows for a
rapid edit-run cycles without any risks etc.

if you can share your workflow, it will go a long way to streamline my
own.

Two types of workflow change the configuration, back-end and front-end. I got attracted to Fvwm seeing the endless possibilities to change the front-end. “Getting Things Done”-oriented FVWM config was one of the first topics that I read. What’s the best way to maintain control of our tasks and manage the windows? The Fvwm KISe ready-made small configs focus on that. I am interested in how nested X server and other back-end configs do it.
